Dak Lak province urged to increase economic scale and quality

After the dialogue with more than 300 farmers in the central and Central Highlands regions on September 28, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a working meeting with key leaders of Dak Lak province on implementing the dual goals of both boosting economic development and preventing COVID-19.

According to Dak Lak province’s reports, its GRDP in the first 9 months of 2020 was estimated at VND39.494 trillion, an increase of about 8.67% compared to 2019, while local budget collection was reported at VND5.632 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 14.02%.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that Dak Lak had made great efforts to achieve results in different aspects during the difficult situation caused by COVID-19. In particular, the growth is good, at 10.3%. Investment attraction has been increased from both domestic and foreign investors, while defence and security has been further reinforced.

Regarding preparations for the organization of the provincial 17th Party Congress term 2020-2025, the Prime Minister suggested that the province thoroughly prepare the contents of the working agenda; complete the draft documents with highest political determination; promote democracy; and seek orientations for suitable development targets.

He emphasized that the province should develop a plan for socio-economic development in 2021 which aims to increase the scale and quality of the economy; ensure security and order; and effectively fight and defeat the destructive plots of hostile forces.

“The province should also well plan socio-economic development, promote the strengths of the central locality in the Central Highlands; promote agricultural production and pay more attention to improving local residents’ living standards,” he said.

The Prime Minister suggested relevant ministries and agencies study the construction and completion of the transport infrastructure system connecting Dak Lak with the major economic regions of the country for promoting local socio-economic development./.
