Specifically, the province invested in the construction and maintenance of nearly 600 infrastructure projects in poor districts and extremely disadvantaged communes; and implemented 432 production development projects, livelihood diversification and poverty reduction model replications for more than 6,600 households.

The province also provided more than 3 million health insurance cards for the poor, near poor, ethnic minorities, and residents in extremely disadvantaged island communes. In addition, the province also supported nearly 182,000 poor or near-poor households, and ethnic minority households to borrow preferential loans, with a total loan turnover of nearly VND3.1 trillion to develop production.

According to Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, poverty reduction programs and policies had been implemented synchronously, contributing to realizing poverty reduction targets one year ahead of the target set in the 10th provincial Party Congress resolution term 2015-2020.

In the coming time, the province will combine poverty reduction programs, projects, schemes and plans in accordance with the local socio-economic development plan, taking advantage of support from non-governmental organizations to invest in poverty reduction. Poor and near-poor households will be provided with vocational training, job creation and preferential loans to develop production, improve domestic economy, and generate stable income.

The province will also expand poverty reduction models, effective livelihood models, and models linking poor households with businesses in production and product consumption./.
