Foreign affairs is bright spot in country's overall achievements

The Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for External Relations held a conference to summarize foreign affairs in 2023 and deploy tasks in 2024 in Hanoi in the afternoon of January 8.

The report and presentations at the conference emphasized that in 2023, peace, cooperation and development were still major trends, however, the world also faced many new difficulties and challenges, with multidimensional impacts on security and development of countries. In that context, foreign affairs has promoted its pioneering role in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, taking advantage of external resources to serve development and enhance the country's prestige and position. Foreign affairs agencies have thoroughly grasped and effectively implemented the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Some major orientations and policies in implementing the foreign policy of 13th National Party Congress" and resolutions, directives, and conclusions on economic diplomacy and international integration in the fields of national defense, security and economy; actively advise on strengthening relationships with important partners and handle arising complex issues. Diplomatic activities of senior leaders, departments, ministries, branches and localities were deployed proactively, effectively and comprehensively. The coordination between the three pillars of party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people's diplomacy was implemented proactively, actively, promptly and highly effectively.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Chairwoman of the CPV Central Committee’s Organization Commission, praised the achievements of foreign affairs in 2023, emphasizing that under the leadership of the PCC, Politburo and Secretariat, led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, foreign affairs in 2023 has been implemented proactively, actively and promptly and achieved important and historically significant results, which is a bright spot in the country's overall achievements. The Diplomatic activities of senior leaders achieved many important and great results, creating many breakthroughs and enhancing political trust with partners.

She suggested that in the coming time, foreign affairs agencies need to closely follow and effectively implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW of the Politburo and other related documents; especially attaching importance to research and strategic advice, meeting high requirements in the new situation; promoting the thorough understanding and effective and substantive implementation of agreements reached with partners; strengthening coordination and cohesion among the three diplomatic pillars, promoting the role, position and tasks of each pillar; closely and synchronously linking foreign affairs with national defense, security, economics and other fields. It ensures the Party's unified and absolute leadership and the State's centralized management of foreign affairs.

Absorbing the comprehensive guidance of Permanent Member of PCC's Secretariat Truong Thi Mai, Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the PCC’s Commission for External Relations, emphasized that the agencies and officials working in foreign affairs will promote the achieved results, strive to overcome difficulties, pay more attention to coordination, promote the pioneering role of foreign affairs, contributing to the implementation of strategic goals set by the 13th National Party Congress./.
