Hanoi: Nearly VND3.054 trillion to support COVID-19 affected people

From the beginning of July to October 27, Hanoi gave social welfare support to nearly 3.9 million people and labourers facing difficulties due to COVID-19, using nearly VND3.054 trillion, the City Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has reported.

Of the capital, over VND2.659 trillion came from the State budget and nearly VND395 billion came from social involvement.
Notably, all the localities have decided to support more than 1.812 million labourers, employers and business households in difficulty from the Government's VND26 trillion welfare package. The total approved budget is nearly VND995 billion. Meanwhile, the Social Insurance sector has paid for 549,292 employees participating in unemployment insurance from the surplus of the Unemployment Insurance Fund with a budget of VND1.365 trillion.
In addition to the Government's policy, the Hanoi authorities have also implemented city-specific policies. Up to now, localities have reviewed and decided to support 290,154 people and business households in difficulties, with a budget of nearly VND300 billion.
The Hanoi Fatherland Front has deducted nearly VND90 billion from the source of support for the prevention and control of COVID-19 to support 175,117 people in need, including foreigners. In addition, agencies and organizations have mobilized many social resources and gifts from benefactors to jointly support 1.06 million people and households in the city to stabilize their lives, with an amount of more than VND305 billion./.
