HCMC to spend over 915 billion VND supporting poor households to celebrate Tet

According to Ms. Trang, during the upcoming Lunar New Year, the city will organize many activities to care for policy beneficiary families and families of war invalids, sick soldiers, and veterans, social protection and poor households in the city. Specifically, 21,400 poor households will be supported with 1,250,000 VND/household, and 18,200 near-poor households with 1 million VND/household.

The Department will also strengthen coordination with the City Bank for Social Policies and localities to promote consultation and support with preferential loans from loan capital to support poverty reduction and job settlement of the city. At the same time, the department also gives means of livelihood to poor and near-poor households in production and business, animal husbandry, farming, preparing for Tet activities, contributing to increasing income and stabilizing their lives.

The city will also take care of health insurance for poor and near-poor households from the beginning of 2024 so as not to interrupt and affect people's medical examination and treatment.

In addition, city leaders will organize 43 delegations to visit, wish Tet and give gifts to former revolutionary cadres, heroic Vietnamese Mothers, revolutionary foundations, typical policy families, and former city leaders over periods, families of generals, former political prisoners, families with children on duty in Truong Sa, DK1 rig, poor households, elderly people, children in difficult circumstances, units of the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security; medical facilities, social protection facilities, drug addiction treatment facilities, people's committees of wards, communes, towns, medical stations, and units on duty during Tet.

The city also visited and gave gifts to 110 families and 11 religious facilities in the provinces of Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Soc Trang and Dong Nai.

The city also has policies to take care of 135,300 officials, civil servants and public employees. The total estimated budget for these activities is about 915 billion VND, an increase of 34 billion VND compared to last year.

Thereby, the city wishes to not only provide material support to the poor and people in difficult circumstances but also organize many spiritual activities for the city's people to celebrate Tet joyfully./.
