According to the policy, Ho Chi Minh City will support tuition fees of VND60,000 per student per month for Group 1 and VND30,000 per student per month for Group 2.

Group 1 includes students attending schools in Thu Duc City and districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu and Binh Tan.

Group 2 includes students attending schools in the districts of Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio.

With this policy, students will be exempt from tuition fees. The implementation period will be nine months during the 2024-2025 school year, funded from the city’s budget.

The estimated cost of implementing this policy is VND237 billion, with VND221 billion allocated for supporting tuition fees for public middle school students (over 464,000 students) and VND16 billion for non-public middle school students (over 30,000 students).

According to the municipal government, this policy aims to continue and further develop the special policy of fully supporting tuition fees for middle school students, which received positive feedback in the 2023-2024 school year. It also lays the foundation for implementing the compulsory secondary education roadmap as required by the 2019 Education Law, in line with the city's new socio-economic situation and demonstrating the city’s commitment to education./.
