Ho Chi Minh City unconditionally supports all 2.5 million people in need

As statistics show that more than 2.5 million people in Ho Chi Minh City are facing difficulties due to COVID-19, the city will give unconditional assistance for those and the assistance will be delivered to people's homes, said Director of the City Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Minh Tan on August 17.

It is expected that each poor person will be supported with VND1 million and 10 kilogram of rice. Meanwhile, 1,580 disadvantaged households who have to rent housing will be provided with VND1.5 million each for accommodations.
At the same time, next week, Ho Chi Minh City will carry out the program allocating 1 million social welfare bags, which include food and essential goods, to people in difficult circumstances.
The city will continue to update people in need to give them the Government’s and the city’s support.
Self-employed workers will be assisted with VND3 million in 2 phases.
Traditional motorbike taxis and cyclos will also benefit from the support.
Earlier, on August 16, the City People’s Committee agreed to allocate over VND1.092 trillion to carry out COVID-19 prevention measures and support people in need./.
