On June 14, the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam and Miss H'Hen Nie collaborated with the People's Committee of Lai Chau Province to hold the inauguration ceremony of a friendly library for pupils in San Bay Village of the Phuc Than Primary School.

The village has 96 pupils from grades 1 to 4. For many years, the pupils here have not had a library. The school has paid attention to implementing extra-curricular reading activities for students, but the work of reading promotion and specialized library have received little investment, with limited number of books and stories.

The friendly library model "Room to Read" was jointly implemented by Miss H'Hen Nie and the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam, with the desire to bring reading culture closer to the children here.

The project has brought nearly 400 books with content suitable for many ages, along with tables, chairs, shelves and educational items. School teachers will be trained to operate the library and organize reading hours for students. After 3 years, the effectiveness of the program will be tested and evaluated.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tong Thanh Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, said that the library is a valuable and practical spiritual gift for the pupils in particular, contributing to encouraging and creating the habit of reading books and improving knowledge for highland students in general./.
