The resolution clearly states that Lunar New Year has an important significance, and UN agencies should avoid holding conferences on this holiday.

It is known that holidays for the UN headquarters and permanent agencies and offices around the world are approved by the UN General Assembly. Each year there are usually 10 days off, including holidays according to the laws of the host country and important religious holidays.

In September, at the general discussion session of the UN General Assembly, a delegate said that a total of 12 member countries requested that Lunar New Year be included in the list of holidays. Lunar New Year is an important occasion, about one of fifth of the world's population celebrates Lunar New Year in different forms. The inclusion of this holiday in the list of holidays positively demonstrates the UN' view of pluralistic, inclusive cultural values. While this resolution does not have any binding impact, UN headquarters and other permanent agencies will avoid holding conferences on this day each year.

Promoting Lunar New Year to become a UN holiday is a practical action to implement the Global Civilization Initiative, promoting respect for the diversity of world civilizations./.
