In the first 5 months of 2024, more than 65,000 Vietnamese labourers went to work abroad, reaching about 52% of the yearly plan, the Department of Overseas Labor Management under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has reported.

The goal for this year is to send about 125,000 Vietnamese labourers abroad under contracts.

Markets that received a large number of Vietnamese labourers in the past five months included Japan with 35,208 people; Taiwan (China) with 21,602 people; and the Republic of Korea: 5,209 people.

Since the beginning of the year, many programs on the promotion of sending labourers to work abroad under contracts have been implemented.

In March, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan and Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski signed the Plan to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the Australian Government and the Vietnamese Government on supporting Vietnamese citizens to work in the agricultural industry in Australia.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to implement a support plan for 1,000 Vietnamese workers to work in the agricultural industry in Australia, expected to start in 2024.

In the first year of the program, labor recruitment is carried out through a public service unit and maximum of six Vietnamese enterprises.

The implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding is an important milestone for the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam in Vietnam-Australia labor cooperation.

In June, in Hanoi, the Center for Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs signed an agreement with the Osaka Medical Care Association (Japan) on the supply of nursing professional interns to Japan.

Employees participating in the program will have their expenses covered by the Osaka Medical Care Association, including full cost of learning Japanese in Vietnam, visa application fee, health examination fee and air ticket.

Workers who come to Japan are arranged to practice at health care facilities of the Association or hospitals that are partners of the Osaka Medical Care Association.

Interns will have a chance to practice in a professional, friendly working environment with full modern equipment, and receive a salary equivalent to the basic salary of a Japanese person working in the same position with a monthly salary of about VND36 million. They will also enjoy social benefits, and participate in various types of insurance according to Japanese law./.
