Northern province increases cooperation with Japanese agency

Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Yen Bai Province has received 20 ODA projects with a total investment of over VND133.5 billion and 5 projects sponsored by the Japanese Embassy with a committed value of USD381,028 in the fields of transport, healthcare and waste treatment for environmental protection.

The information was announced during a meeting of the delegation from JICA with Yen Bai Province’s leaders on November 29.

At the meeting, Mr. Wada Yoichi, senior advisor of JICA Volunteer Program, JICA Japan Office, expressed his wish that Yen Bai Province create all favorable conditions for volunteers in the field of community tourism development working in the province. Mr. Wada Yoichi said that in the near future, there will be one more volunteer, also in the field of community tourism development, to work in Nghia Lo Town.

Through the activities, Mr. Wada Yoichi also wished Yen Bai would continue to make proposals on the areas of interest for JICA to know and support, in order to further tighten the relationship between Japan and Vietnam in general and with Yen Bai in particular.

Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc thanked the working delegation and Japan's support to the province through JICA, noting that through JICA, Yen Bai Province has received 20 ODA projects with a total investment of over VND133.5 billion and 5 projects sponsored by the Japanese Embassy with a committed value of USD381,028 in the fields of transport, healthcare and waste treatment for environmental protection.

With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yen Bai Province also signed an agreement to establish a cooperative relationship with Mimasaka City, Okayama Prefecture, in the fields of vocational training, internship exchange, labour export, agriculture and tourism.

Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc affirmed that Yen Bai will create the best conditions for volunteers to work in localities and suggested that JICA continue to pay attention and invest in Yen Bai in the fields of education, medicine, economy, environmental protection, and climate change mitigation./.
