Located in Minh Ngoc commune, a remote area in Bac Me district, Minh Ngoc Secondary and High School serves over 600 students across 17 classes, most of whom belong to ethnic minority groups. Currently, more than 200 students from low-income households live far from the school and must independently arrange accommodation and meals.
This project is a meaningful addition for both students and teachers of the school and the broader community of Minh Ngoc commune. It addresses the urgent need for safe housing for students, particularly those living far from school, ensuring a conducive environment for studying and daily activities.
The facility, spanning over 500 square meters, includes dormitory rooms, a kitchen, a dining area, restrooms, showers and recreational spaces. It was developed in collaboration with the Vietnam Children's Fund, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ha Giang province, and the Association of Vietnam Veteran Entrepreneurs and Businesses (AVEB).
During the inauguration ceremony, Labor Hero Le Van Kiem, Chairman of AVEB, highlighted that the project is a meaningful gift from the association to the children of Minh Ngoc School. It symbolizes the spirit of mutual support and the collective contributions of veterans who continue to serve in various capacities during both wartime and peacetime.
Dinh Tien Hai, Director of the Vietnam Children's Fund, emphasized that building dormitories has been a key focus of the organization for years. This initiative aims to provide ethnic minority children with stable access to education, reducing school dropout rates in mountainous regions. Mobilizing resources to build dormitories has supported children's rights to education, recreation, cultural activities, arts, sports, tourism and talent development./.
