The Government leader has asked 5 ministries to strengthen control of people coming to and going through countries that have detected Omicron variant infections, preventing the risk of entering Vietnam.

On December 23, the Government Office sent an official dispatch conveying the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on strengthening vaccination and control against Omicron viarant.
Accordingly, the Ministries of Health, Transport, Public Security, National Defence and Foreign Affairs strengthen control of people entering via air, land and waterway; give rapid tests for passengers before boarding and after landing, immediately isolate suspected cases; and conduct gene sequencing to detect the Omicron variant and treat it thoroughly.
The Ministry of Health directs specialized agencies to conduct comprehensive research on the new Omicron variant to promptly take appropriate pandemic prevention measures.
The Prime Minister assigned the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to direct the vaccination more quickly. He reiterated the goal of completing the second injection for people from 18 years old by December 31 at the latest; completing the second injection for people aged 12-18 in January 2022; and completing the third dose for adults in the first quarter of 2022.
The Chairpersons of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the Chairpersons of the Provincial People's Committee are responsible to the Government for the progress of vaccination in the locality, when it is fully provided.
Currently, the Government has agreed to a plan to restore regular international flights carrying passengers to areas with a high safety factor, starting from January 1, 2022./.
