According to NDO, from August, Bac Kan province will implement a smartphone support programme for adults from poor households in eight communes selected for a pilot programme in digital transformation.

The communes and wards eligible for the programme include: Song Cau ward (Bac Kan city); Quang Thuan commune (Bach Thong); Thuong Giao commune (Ba Be); Nghia Ta commune (Cho Don); Nhu Co commune (Cho Moi); Duc Van commune (Ngan Son); Con Minh commune (Na Ri) and Giao Hieu commune (Pac Nam).

According to the People's Committee of Bac Kan province, the programme aims to offer adults in general and households in particular living in the 8 communes and wards selected for the pilot programme in digital transformation the opportunity to learn about and access information and science and technology applications, as well as online public services.

The programme is expected to donate a smartphone from the received source to the adults of poor and near-poor households who do not yet have a smartphone.

Bac Kan also seeks the support of businesses and stores selling smartphones by giving away phones, reducing phone costs, selling phones on installment plans or other forms of support.

Agencies, units, organisations, businesses and individuals can directly support the provision of the technology./.
