Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations reports achievements to Uncle Ho

The Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations on May 22 organized an incense offering ceremony at the Memorial of Martyrs and Heroes on Bac Son Street in Hanoi and paid tribute to Uncle Ho, on the 10th anniversary of the agency’s traditional day.

Colonel Pham Manh Thang, Head of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, reported on the agency's operational results and outstanding achievements during its 10 years of construction, development and growth.

Accordingly, Vietnamese forces participating in UN peacekeeping activities always strive to overcome difficulties to excellently complete all assigned tasks, and be appreciated by United Nations (UN) leaders, mission commanders, international colleagues and local people. Many individuals were evaluated by the UN for successfully completing their tasks and awarded Medals for the cause of UN Peacekeeping, along with many Certificates of Merit and Letters of Commendation.

In front of the spirit of Uncle Ho, the Head of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, on behalf of the entire agency, promised to always be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, the Army, and the path that Uncle Ho chose, worthy of being messengers of peace in implementing activities of great political and humanitarian significance to the international community.

Officers of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations vowed to unite with one heart and determination to build the Party Committee of the agency to successfully complete all assigned tasks.

During 10 years of participating in UN peacekeeping activities, the Vietnam People's Army has sent 804 professional officers and soldiers to deploy in the form of individuals and units, including five teams of level 2 field hospitals deployed in the South Sudan Mission, two teams of the engineer deployed in the Abyei Area and 114 officers deployed individually.

Not only excellently completing assigned tasks, Vietnam's UN peacekeeping force, through many meaningful military and civil activities, has contributed to bringing a better life to the people of the host country, spreading the image of Vietnamese "Green Beret" soldiers, as well as the images, traditions and noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers to international friends and colleagues./.
