According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP), FSIS has proposed the Federal Registration Office publish a draft collecting ideas about recognizing Vietnam meeting full requirements to export catfish (fish of the Siluriformes) to the US market.

In addition, FSIS also proposed recognizing China and Thailand meeting the full requirement for their exports to the market.

It has reviewed documentation, conducted field inspection in these countries and gave conclusions in the draft.

The proposals will be published within 30 days. If the draft proposal is the final decision, the three countries will be eligible to export Siluriformes fish to the US. The full rules attached with the proposal will be incorporated into the US Code of Federal Regulations./.
