Ho Chi Minh city marks Thai National Day

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, in collaboration with the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh city, on December 7th held a meeting to mark the 90th anniversary of the Thai National Day (December 5th).

Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh city Truong Hoang said that since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship in 1976, ties between Vietnam and Thailand have developed well in all areas, especially in 2013 when the two countries officially upgraded the relationship to strategic partnership. The two-way trade turnover has been increasingly high, with a target of USD20 billion by 2020.

Over the past years, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association has worked with the Thai Consulate General and the Thai Businesses’ Association to organize diverse friendly and charitable activities, including giving scholarships to poor pupils in Ho Chi Minh city, contributing to reinforcing the people-to-people diplomacy between the Vietnamese city’s residents and Thai people.

Confirming that the relationship between Vietnam and Thailand in general and between Ho Chi Minh city and Thailand in particular has developed in diverse areas, including economics, culture and people-to-people diplomacy, Ureerat Ratanaprukse, Thai Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city, said that the city is an important destination for Thai investors, adding that the investors are willing to contribute to the city’s development./.
