Ho Chi Minh city promotes trade cooperation with Cuba

During the reception, Mr. Liem stressed that Vietnamese people always remembered the good affection and effective assistance of Cuban people during its struggle for national independence and reunification in the past, as well as the national construction and development later. “Leaders and people in Ho Chi Minh city always stand side by side with Cuban people in its national construction and development, in order to reinforce the special friendship between the two peoples,” he said.

He congratulated the 35^th Vietnam - Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee on its success, which he said opens up new opportunities for the development of the bilateral relations, especially in trade and investment between Cuba and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh city.

Adding that Ho Chi Minh city hopes to increase economic and trade cooperation with Cuba, Mr. Liem stated that the city is willing to share its experience in management and development with Cuba, contributing to developing the sustainable friendship between the two countries.

For his part, Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz congratulated Ho Chi Minh city for its strong and dynamic development, confirming that Cuban people always respect and want to foster and develop the solidarity and friendship with Vietnamese people, including those in Ho Chi Minh city.

According to the Cuban Minister, over the past time, although remarkable results had been reported in the cooperation between the two countries, they did not yet match the potential.

“The two sides hope to promote economic relation to equal the very good political relation, agreeing to make favourable conditions for trade promotion activities and investment cooperation between Vietnamese and Cuban businesses,” he said./.
