So said Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, on June 4th during his reception for Leow Siu Lin, Singaporean Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city, who said a farewell on the end of her working term.
Appreciating Ms Leow Siu Lin’s contribution in promoting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore, including the relationship with Ho Chi Minh city, Mr. Phong said that Ms Leow Siu Lin is a big friend of Ho Chi Minh city by linking the consulate general with diverse effective activities.
According to Mr. Phong, Singapore is the biggest investor in Ho Chi Minh city among 106 countries and territories, and has gained good results in educational and training and public administration cooperation.
Ms Leow Siu Lin expressed her thanks to Ho Chi Minh city’s leaders and authority for supporting her during her 6-year working term, as well as the warm welcome and reception for Singapore’s high ranking visits to Vietnam.
She added that more and more Singaporean companies had found investment and business opportunities in Ho Chi Minh city since 1990 and gained success. “With its experience in urban management and the building of smart urban areas, I hope that Singapore will have the chance to participate in Ho Chi Minh city’s project in building smart urban area,” she said.
She also expressed her confidence that the upcoming visit to Singapore by Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan will help reinforce the relationship between the two countries, going on to say that she expected more delegations visiting Singapore to further increase the cooperative relationship in diverse areas. During the reception, Mr. Phong awarded the city’s medal to Ms Leow Siu Lin, recognizing her contributions to the Ho Chi Minh city - Singapore friendly relationship./.
