Increasing cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and Laos

On August 22nd, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, received a delegation of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Office led by Khamphanh Phommathat, Politburo member, Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and head of the LPRP Central Committee Office.

During the reception, Chairman Phong confirmed that Ho Chi Minh city’s leaders always pay attention to directing agencies and sectors to carry out friendship and cooperation activities with Lao localities, contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Laos relationship.
Over the past year, Ho Chi Minh city has organized a number of activities marking the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relationship and 40th year since the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, contributing to increasing mutual understanding and friendship between Ho Chi Minh city and Laos, as well as between Vietnam and Laos.
Showing his pleasure to pay a working visit to Ho Chi Minh city, Mr. Khamphanh Phommathat informed Chairman Phong of the results of talks between the two Party Central Committee Offices.
Expressing his thanks to Ho Chi Minh city for its effective assistance for Lao localities, Mr. Khamphanh Phommathat said he hoped the Vietnamese city would share management experience, continue trade and investment activities in Laos, and train human resources for Lao localities./.
