International terminal serving APEC to be completed

Da Nang city is completing the international airport terminal, along with urban and social infrastructure construction serving the operation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2017.

According Hoang Viet Ha, Vice Director of the Da Nang international terminal project management unit, 80% of work relating to the building of the mechanic and electric, avian equipment and terminal equipment systems have been completed. The contractor is gearing up the progress to complete the project on March 29th so that initial flights will be conducted at the terminal between April and September. After that, the terminal will be put into official operation to serve the APEC Summit Week.

The city Management Board for Investment and Construction of Civil and Industrial Works said that so far, the progress of construction has been ensured. In particular, the upgrade of the fair centre into a press centre will be completed by June 30th, while the upgrade of the Tien Son Sports Palace into a place to hold the Gala Dinner for APEC, using a capital of over VND84 billion, is expected to be completed by May 31st.

Large and important roads are also being upgraded and decorated, promising to create a strong impression for visitors. Applying the order from the city People’s Committee, the city Water Supply Company has upgraded the water system, ensuring water supply and quality.

Chairman of the city People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho stressed that in the first quarter of 2017, relevant agencies have to work together to develop related programs to attract multi-national groups and investors to attend, thus promoting the strength, image and potential of the city; and work out cooperation promotion programs in terms of high technology, information and technology, services, tourism and logistics.

The APEC Summit Week, to be organized in Da Nang city in November, will also be an opportunity for the city to introduce its image and to attract investment./.
