Solidarity between Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian people strengthened

The Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee on April 10th held a feast for 500 Lao and Cambodian students who are studying in the city, to welcome Laos’ Bunpimay traditional festival and Cambodia’s Chol Chnam Thmay traditional festival.

Congratulating the students on their countries’ traditional festivals, Tran Luu Quang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee, stressed that the friendship between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia had contributed to the countries’ national development and protection both in the past, at present and in the future.

“The three countries’ youngsters will be an important factor in linking and strengthening the friendship,” he said, adding that there had been a lot of exchanges and cooperative activities among the three countries’ youngsters in general, and between Ho Chi Minh city and Lao and Cambodian localities in particular.

He also expressed his belief that Lao and Cambodian students would help further enhance solidarity and affection among the three peoples, thus making contributions to developing prosperity, and building up the ASEAN Community for peace, cooperation and development.

Representatives from Lao and Cambodian students in the city sent their thanks to Ho Chi Minh city’s Party Committee, authority and people for supporting them and making favourable conditions for their study and life. They also pledged to do their utmost to foster and strengthen the solidarity, friendship and affection between the three countries.

During the feast, Ho Chi Minh city’s leaders joined the ritual in tying threads on their wrists wishing for luck, and Lao and Cambodian traditional dances./.
