According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Dang Xuan Dung, after over 30 years of the renewal process, Vietnam has gained encouraging development, especially in 2018 as the country reported stable economic growth rate with GDP of 7.08%, the highest over the past 10 years. Along with this, total export turnover reached USD482 billion in 2018, an increase of 12.2% compared to 2017, while the inflation rate was controlled at 3.54%.

He confirmed that Vietnam is a peaceful country with stable political environment, thus being a trusted destination for foreign investors. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Government always makes favourable conditions for domestic and foreign businesses to invest in Vietnam.

Regarding trade relations between Vietnam and Argentina, Ambassador Dung appreciated the active results in two-way trade turnover of nearly USD3 billion in 2018. “However, the results do not yet fit the potential,” he said.

He stressed that after the visit to Vietnam by President Argentina Mauricio Macri with the signing of a joint statement which commits to further increasing trade and economic relations, the two countries’ businesses need to enhance links by exchanging delegations, and joining trade events to have a more thorough understanding about trade cooperation opportunities as well as the markets.

During the workshop, the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina introduced to Argentinean businesses the country’s economy, trade, and key import-export goods.

Representatives from the Asian Chamber of Commerce also shared experience in trade exchanges with Vietnamese partners, and answered businesses’ questions about the Vietnamese market./.
