Vietnam - Cambodia relationship deepened

The Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association was established in Vietnam’s southern province of Soc Trang during a congress held on August 23rd.

Addressing the congress, Deputy Secretary of the Soc Trang Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Lam Van Man, said that the Vietnam - Cambodia friendship had always been developed by the two Parties and States in diverse areas, including politics, economics, security and defence. “The establishment of  the Association in Soc Trang province is also a practical activity to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam - Cambodia diplomatic relationship,” he said.

With a total population of over 1.3 million, Soc Trang province is home to a large ethnic Khmer community, numbering over 400,000 or representing 30.71%. It is the locality of many veterans who were Vietnamese volunteers to Cambodia. At present, a lot of enterprises in Soc Trang province are doing business in Cambodia.

In the 2017-2022 period, the Soc Trang Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association will help deepen the relations with partners and the Cambodia -Vietnam Friendship Associations in Cambodian localities; and disseminate the Vietnamese Party and State external policies about Vietnam - Cambodia relationship.

Mr. Man was elected as President of the Association./.
