Vietnam, Laos ink science and technology cooperation

Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with its Laos counterpart, is organizing a forum promoting technological transfer between the two countries (TechConnect Vietnam - Laos) on August 9th-10th at the Institute of Science and Technology Management of Laos.

Attracting more than 300 delegates from Vietnamese and Lao ministries, institutes, universities and businesses, the forum aims to increase cooperation and technological transfer among organizations and businesses; and link Vietnamese technological researchers and developers with Lao Governmental agencies and businesses, in order to promote commercialization, application and investment in technologies applied in Laos’ key sectors, including processing and preservation of agricultural products, alternative energy, environmental treatment and information and technology.

Apart from 25 stalls exhibiting technological research and results, during TechConnect Vietnam - Laos, specialized conferences working on solutions to technological transfer for boosting sustainable agricultural production, environmental treatment and information technology will be held. Activities connecting technological transfer and cooperation partners between the two countries will also be a focus of the event.

According to Ta Viet Dung, Head of the State Agency for Technology Innovation, surveys conducted before the event showed that 13 Lao agencies are in need of cooperating with Vietnamese partners in technological transfer.

He added that his agency had worked to link the two sides for signing cooperation deals during the event, while compiling a bilingual handbook on Vietnam - Laos technological transfer for supporting agencies./.
