During the workshops, the sides discussed new cooperation opportunities as well as difficulties and obstacles for Italian businesses in the context of the valid free trade agreement between EU and Vietnam (EVFTA).

Delegates stressed the huge potential of the Vietnamese economy with a scale of nearly 100 million people and strong consumption, as well as its role as a gateway to ASEAN market and others, thanks to the free trade agreements that Vietnam is a member of.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue confirmed that the good and stable political relationship between Vietnam and Italy is a convenient condition for promoting economic cooperation between the two countries. “The Vietnamese Government always creates favourable conditions for Italian businesses to do business in Vietnam,” she said, adding that the valid EVFTA will bring greater opportunities for Italian businesses when 99% of tax will be removed gradually.

She also addressed some Italian businesses’ obstacles; and informed them of the third high level dialogue between ASEAN and Italy on economic cooperation which will take place in Hanoi from June 5th-6th with the participation of Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

Parma and Piacenza, two cities in the Emilia Romagna region, have a network of dynamically developed businesses in agriculture, food industry, industrial machines, drug and cosmetics.

The Emilia Romagna region has set up cooperative relations with Vietnam’s Binh Duong province and is the locality producing over 50% of Italy’s exports to Vietnam./.
