Vietnam welcomes leaders to WEF-ASEAN

A record number of leaders will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) on ASEAN which is expected to be held in Hanoi on September 11th-13th under the theme “ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the WEF announcement has reported.

According to the announcement, there will be 8 ASEAN member countries sending their heads to the event, including the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad, Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hunsen. The leaders and other ASEAN officials will be welcomed by host Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Head of Regional Agenda - Asia Pacific, Member of the WEF Executive Committee Justin Wood, stressed that ASEAN is currently one of the highlights of the global economic forum; and that the presence of regional high ranking leaders show countries’ commitments on maintaining that while expanding the fourth industrial revolution.

Attending the event, over 800 leaders from entreprises, Governments, civil societies and communication circles will discuss a wide range of current international issues, from geopolitical conflicts to entreprise administration, and use of labour in the context of the fourth industrial revolution.

Meanwhile, the leaders will talk about specific issues, including new balance of power in Asia, the future of jobs in ASEAN, the economic prospects in Asia, the promotion of the ASEAN Economic Community, and technological issues in the digital economy./.
