VND400 billion for building IT infrastructure

The Telecommunications University in Khanh Hoa province’s Nha Trang city on June 14th inaugurated the Information Technology (IT) and Foreign Languages Center, the second phase, using a capital of VND400 billion, including VND120 billion of assistance from the Indian Government for IT infrastructure.

According to Major-General Khuc Dang Tuan, Commander of the Telecommunications Service, the center was built on an area of 30,000 square meters, using the most synchronous and advanced IT system. Once completed, the center will be capable of training 2,000 people per year and will serve as the working place of 1,000 others in developing and providing services for the army and production demand for society.

During the inauguration ceremony, Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman appreciated the cooperative results of the two countries from the first phase of the center, adding that India was willing to send its experts to Vietnam to continue to build IT infrastructure, as well as satisfy training demand. “The cooperation is the evidence of the increased India – Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership,” she said.

Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh stressed that the operation of the center in the first phase confirmed the right method of the development of the friendly and cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese and Indian Governments, armies and peoples.

“It is an important foundation for the center to become a prestigious one in training and fostering high quality human resources in IT and foreign languages; research, application and transfer of IT and telecommunications for the whole army and country, looking towards to the world.

The first phase of the center construction was completed in 2015. Since then, the center has organized 52 training courses in IT and the English language for over 4,000 military and civil trainees.

The construction’s second phase is expected to be put into use by late 2019./.
