Lao-Vietnamese official and staff in Geneva exchange

The event was organized on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations (September 5^th) and 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation (July 18^th).

Speaking at the exchange, Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, Head of Vietnam's permanent delegation in Geneva, reviewed the glorious development of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, which has been consolidated, renovated and further developed, contributing to the cause of national construction, defence and development of each country.

He also affirmed that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries has become precious common property of the two parties, two countries and two peoples.

The ambassador hoped that the Vietnam-Laos friendship and solidarity would continue to be further promoted through effective cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao representative agencies in Geneva and Berne, as well as in friendly relations between staff of the agencies and their families.

Lao Ambassador Kham-Inh Khitchadeth stressed that the two countries were united in their struggles, as well as in the cause of national construction and protection in each country. He said that in the context of many complicated developments in the world, it was necessary for Vietnam and Laos, especially for the younger generation of the two countries, to strengthen the traditional cooperative relationship in order to preserve political stability and promote socio-economic development for the prosperity of the two peoples.

The ambassador also hoped that the Vietnamese and Lao diplomats working in Geneva and Berne always reinforced the strong cooperation between the two countries for the effectiveness and success of the bilateral and multilateral diplomacy in Switzerland./.
