Requiem to commemorate martyrs held in Germany

A requiem to commemorate martyrs and people who died to protect the border, Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes, was held at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Nürnberg city, Germany, on March 25th.

At the event, Mr. Lam Quang Ngoc, a representative from Franken Vietnamese Buddhist Cultural Centre, reviewed the brave sacrifice of soldiers in Gac Ma battle. The participants held a minute’s silence in memory of martyrs and offered incense to them.

Mr. Ngoc also shared about the history, war wound of Vietnamese people after Gac Ma battle and brave sacrifice of 64 soldiers while they were trying to protect Vietnam’s territorial integrity.

He shared that the requiem was organized annually at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda not only commemorating the martyrs but also teaching young Vietnamese generations, born and raised in Germany, to always memorialize the great merit of the martyrs.

Mr. Tran Quoc An, a representative of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Regensburg, said that the event is a message affirming Vietnam's indisputable sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes, and condemning China’s illegal activities and violation of international law in the East Sea.

Apart from Nürnberg, overseas Vietnamese in many other places of Germany have also organized requiems for martyrs. It shows that Vietnamese people, regardless of location, always look toward the homeland, sympathizing with the sacrifice and loss of the nation./.
