The event was attended by 30 representatives from Czech companies interesting in the Vietnamese market and some Vietnamese companies operating in the Czech Republic.

At the conference, Ambassador Truong Manh Son introduced Vietnam’s current socio-economic development, as well as the bilateral trade and investment exchange between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Commercial Counsellor Tran Hiep Thuong said that the conference aimed to provide information to help Czech enterprises erase their prejudices and fears of risks when investing in Vietnam.

He introduced Vietnam’s preferential investment policies, as well as cooperation agreements signed between Vietnam and the Czech Republic and the European Union (EU).

According to Mr. Thuong, the economic cooperation potential between Vietnam and the Czech Republic is huge, and the current goods exchange between the two countries has progressed well with a turnover of approximately USD1 billion.

However, investment remains weak. Czech businesses have invested 35 projects in Vietnam with a total capital of USD100 million, while Vietnamese enterprises invest in only four projects in the Czech Republic with a total capital of USD5 million, which is a small and humble figure.

Czech enterprises lack information on the business environment and investment attracting policies of Vietnam, so they are afraid of risks. It is expected that in the coming time, the Vietnamese Embassy will have many practical activities so that Czech investors have more opportunities to access the Vietnamese market.

At the conference, representatives of Czech businesses also shared their business experiences in Vietnam. Mr. Ivo Gajdos, CEO of the Czech Management Association, emphasized that the Czech Republic is in the list of strategic export markets of Vietnam in the period of 2010-2020.

Vietnam is also recognized as one of 12 leading potential markets of the Czech Republic, which supports the signing of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement.

According to Mr. Ivo Gajdos, the Vietnamese market, with the dynamic development of a country of more than 90 million people and clear investment incentive policies, is worth Czech businesses paying more attention to learn about./.
