Vietnam undertakes AMC Chairmanship

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh undertook the rotating Chairmanship of the ASEAN Moscow Committee (AMC) from the Thai Ambassador at the fourth meeting of the AMC, held in the Hanoi-Moscow Complex (Incentra) in the Russian capital city on November 21st.

The meeting was attended by ambassadors from other ASEAN member countries, including the Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh congratulated the Thai Ambassador for fulfilling his role as AMC chairman in 2019 and proposed the activity program of AMC in 2020.

At the meeting, the ambassadors expressed their support for Vietnam’s AMC Chairmanship and expected that the new chairman would help promote solidarity and cooperation between the ASEAN and Russia.

Accordingly, the committee is scheduled to organize activities in 2020 such as ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony, ASEAN Family Day, a workshop on ASEAN-Russia economic cooperation, and other events to promote the cuisines and cultures of ASEAN member countries.

Founded in 1967, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has 10 member countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam./.
