The event aimed to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam - Egypt diplomatic relations.

Through an exchange with Vietnamese Ambassador Do Hoang Long, as well as pictures, books and magazines at the event, people in Damietta understood more about the land and people of Vietnam.

Vietnamese spring rolls were also introduced at the event and attracted a large number of the local people to enjoy.

Dr. Manal Awad, governor of Damietta province, said that this was the first time the people in Damietta province have joined a cultural event of Vietnam.

The Vietnam Cultural Day and the opening of a Vietnamese book room at the public library of Damietta province would contribute to boosting the cooperation between the two countries and helping the people in the province understand more about the culture, history and development achievement of Vietnam over the past time.

On this occasion, the governor expressed his hope to see an agreement to exchange students between universities of Damietta province and Vietnamese universities, thus promoting cultural exchange and cooperation.

These practical activities should promote agreements and memorandums of understanding high-ranking leaders of the two countries signed in 2017 and 2018.

Dr. Manal Awad also affirmed that the province would create all conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Damietta city, with many industrial parks and sea ports./.
