Vietnamese people in Berlin organize requiem for martyr heroes

A requiem to commemorate and express gratitude to martyr heroes, who sacrificed themselves for the independence and territorial integrity of the country, was organized at Tu An Pagoda in Berlin, Germany on July 17th.

The event was organized on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27th).

Superior Monk Thich Tu Nhon, master monk of Tu An Pagoda and Venerable Thich Phap Nhat opened the ceremony with a moment of silence to express their respect and in memory of the sacrifice of soldiers who laid down their lives in the fights to protect the country, including fights of protection of borders, the sea and islands of the nation.

Mr. Le Minh Tam, representative for the participants, reviewed the glorious feats of arms of generations of Vietnamese who sacrificed their lives for independence, freedom and territorial and islands integrity of the country. He said that present generations will never forget the great sacrifices and show their deep gratitude for the noble sacrifices.

According to Mr. Tam, Vietnam’s history embeds the glorious victories such as Chi Lang and Dong Da, and the historical pages will continue to be written in the effort to defend Vietnam’s sacred sovereignty in the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa in the current period.

During the requiem, Superior Monk Thich Tu Nhon and the participants offered incense to martyr heroes.

Ending the requiem, they sang songs to praise the brave sacrifice of the martyrs and express their sentiment toward the homeland.

The requiem expresses the gratitude and deep respect of overseas Vietnamese people for the sacrifice of the martyr heroes for the fatherland./.
