Sugar apples in harvest season

In early August, in the northern mountainous province of Lang Son’s Chi Lang district, visitors enjoy the local specialty, sugar apple. This year, the district reports a record sugar apple productivity of 15,000 tons.

The famous delicious sugar apple grown in Chi Lang district is sold at VND25,000-35,000 per kilogram, mainly in the Dong Banh fruit market. The fruit is then transported to surrounding localities.

Dong Banh fruit market is considered the largest sugar apple market in the north.

The sugar apple is even sold along roads.

Thousands of sugar apple growers bring their products to market.

The market opens from August 8th.

Sugar apple is classified into different classes, from big to smaller ones.

Sugar apples are preserved for transport with iced salt water.

Low temperature helps keep sugar apples fresh during transport.
