Club for beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa marks its 2nd anniversary

During the past two years, the club has cooperated with Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City Television Station to carry out the program “For beloved Truong Sa Students” to mobilize to build two schools on big Truong Sa and Sinh Ton islands; cooperated with Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund to choose 55 students who are children of officials, soldiers and fishermen in difficult circumstance to study from grade 6 to grade 12 in Ho Chi Minh city; organizing the program “Spring in island” to raise fund to grant 1,630 scholarships to children of naval officials, soldiers and fishermen and take care of the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) for them, who are on duty on island; cooperated with the Navy High Command to go to Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Hai Phong to visit and present families of revolutionary martyrs sacrificed on Gac Ma island and DK1 frame house; and presented gifts to war invalid Phung Ba Dieu, a naval commando of Rung Sac special zone.

Ms. Truong My Hoa, Head of the club, said that the establishment of the club has met the need, aspiration and sentiment of all classes of people and young people towards the sea and islands. Although it has been established in a short time, the club has 568 official members, 31 units, which are collective members, over 1,600 members on Facebook and even members, who are overseas Vietnamese in Australia, Poland, Austria and Hungary.

At the ceremony, the club presented 20 scholarships to children of officials and soldiers from the Navy High Command, each worth VND1 million; and presented membership cards to seven individuals and three units.

On August 1st, 2014, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund was established and organized the debut ceremony of the Club for beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa to connect people's hearts and aspirations towards the sea and islands of the homeland./.
