35th session of UN Human Rights Council

The session includes a dialogue with representatives from the independent international investigation committee on Syria, as well as discussions on reports of special rapporteurs on human rights situations in Belarus, Eritrea, Burundi and Myanmar.

During the session, high-level discussions will also be held on various human rights related issues, such as: the right to privacy, rights of persons with disabilities, rights of minorities, and rights of children. The Council will also discuss a report of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on ways to bridge the gender digital divide from a human rights perspective, as well as a report of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

The Human Rights Council holds three regular sessions a year, for a total of at least ten weeks. They take place in March (four weeks), June (three weeks) and September (three weeks). If one third of the member states request so, the Human Rights Council can decide at any time to hold a special session to address human rights violations and emergencies.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, head of Vietnam’s permanent delegation to the UN, the World Trade Organisation and other international organizations in Geneva, attended the event.

As scheduled, the session will run until June 23rd./.
