Buckingham Palace attacker suspected with Islam element

British Police on August 26th said a man was arrested under the Terrorism Act after deliberately driving at police outside Queen Elizabeth II's Buckingham Palace residence in London.

After being challenged by officers, the 26-year-old attacker tried to reach for a 1.2-meter sword which was in the front passenger foot well, the police statement said.

He repeatedly shouted Allahu akbar (God is greatest) and then was incapacitated with CS spray.

The subject stopped his car near a police vehicle in a restricted area outside the world famous palace at around 8:35pm (19:35 GMT) Friday, according to a Metropolitan Police statement.

At least three officers had minor injuries. Currently, the London Police Department's anti-terrorism unit is investigating the case.

The incident comes as Britain and many European countries are on high alert following a string of major attacks over the past two years.

In Britain alone, a total of 35 people have been killed in three attacks in London and Manchester since March./.
