Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister visits Europe

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla begins a visit to Europe from May 14th.

As scheduled, Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla will participate in the first Cuba-European Union Joint Council, which will be held on May 15th in Brussels.

On May 16th, the Cuban Minister Foreign Affairs will be in Geneva to present the National Report of Cuba to the third Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council.

On May 17th, Minister Parrilla will pay an official visit to Switzerland and carry out a number of activities.

Born in 1958, Rodriguez Parrilla served as Cuba's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1995 to 2003. He was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs on March 2nd, 2009, replacing Felipe Perez Roque, after serving as the Vice-Minister. 

On October 25th, 2011, Mr. Rodriguez Parrilla addressed the United Nations General Assembly right before the annual non-binding vote calling for the United States to end its embargo against Cuba.

On July 20th, 2015, Foreign Minister Rodriguez attended the reinauguration of the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., making him the first Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit the US on a diplomatic mission since 1958./.
