10 killed due to forest fires in California

A massive forest fire has hit Northern California with firestorms killing at least 10 people as of October 9th.

California fire officials said that fires had destroyed at least 1,500 homes and commercial facilities across nine fire-hit counties, including the prime US wine-growing regions of Napa and Sonoma.

Seven people were killed in Sonoma, two died in Napa and one person was killed in Mendocino county. Local media reported that more than 100 people were being treated in Napa and Sonoma hospitals.

A firestorm is sweeping through eight counties in Northern California. 

Gov. Jerry Brown declared an emergency in eight counties, including Napa and Sonoma, as at least 15 new fires burned across the northern half of the state./.
