Meeting to check implementation of inter-Korean agreements

On December 19th, the Republic of Korea (RoK) organized a meeting of its special committee to check the implementation of inter-Korean agreements, at the presidential office in Seoul.

The second of its kind, the meeting was presided over by Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok.

Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom said in a short statement, “The committee reviewed the progress made so far on the implementation of inter-Korean joint declarations and reviewed its business plan for next year.”

Ha added that the committee meeting lasted about one hour.

The first committee meeting took place on September 28th when RoK President Moon Jae-in had held his third and latest summit with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang on September 19th.

At the meeting, the two leaders signed a broad agreement that both said would usher in a new era of peace on the Korean Peninsula. They earlier met in the Truce Village of Panmunjom in April and May./.
