President Moon’s visit is at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

The two leaders are expected to meet on April 11th at the White House, in a summit widely expected to see the two heads of state have in-depth discussions on how to work together to further strengthen the RoK - US alliance and establish a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula through complete denuclearization.

The summit will also be the seventh of its kind since Moon took office in May 2017 and the first between both leaders since Washington and Pyeongyang failed to reach an agreement in their Hanoi summit in February.

Presidents Moon and Trump last met in person at a summit held on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Buenos Aires in November, 2018/.
