Russian President to meet Israeli Prime Minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on January 1st spoke by phone and agreed to meet soon.

The phone call came a day after the two exchanged New Year’s greetings.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "Putin and Netanyahu agreed to hold a meeting shortly to discuss current bilateral relationships and exchange opinions on various international and regional issues."

During the talk, Putin congratulated Netanyahu with the New Year. Both leaders wished each other and the peoples of both countries all the best in the New Year, Putin’s spokesman said.

Earlier, in an address to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Russian President expressed hope for "further joint work on strengthening bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and other areas, including efforts in ensuring stability and security in the Middle East".

The last time the two leaders met was in August in Sochi./.
