US - DPRK Summit to open in Capella Hotel

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has announced the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Summit will be set at the Capella Hotel in Singapore’s Sentosa island on June 12th.

“We thank our great Singapore hosts for their hospitality,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted.

The 5-star Capella Hotel, promises the tranquility of Sentosa Island amid the bustle of the cosmopolitan city-state, according to the hotel’s website.

Singaporean police will tighten security measures to prepare for the summit between the two leaders.

In a press release issued on June 6th, the Singaporean police said “special event areas” will be set up from June 10th-14th under the Public Order Act at Capella Hotel on the resort island of Sentosa.

Mr. Kim Chang Son, director of DPRK’s state affairs commission secretariat, and Joe Hagin, a deputy White House chief of staff, met at the hotel in late May to work out security and logistics measures.

Earlier, the White House announced that the Summit will take place on June 12th in Singapore at 09h00.

Singapore’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on May 10th that it would host the historic meeting.

"We hope this meeting will advance prospects for peace in the Korean peninsula," Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement./.
