Hanoi offers free bus services to delegates in celebration of SEA Games 31

Tours of Hanoi using double-decker buses are being offered free of charge to all delegates, including athletes, coaches, and reporters, to the ongoing SEA Games 31 throughout May, reported Vietnam News Agency.

The buses, running between 9am and 5pm every day, can be identified with the Games’ logo and the line ‘Official bus tour for SEA Games 31’ on its front and sides.

The service, named Hanoi City Tour, is the first of its kind in the capital. The buses carry passengers through 25 streets and have 15 stops at key local tourist destinations such as the Hanoi Opera House, St. Joseph's Cathedral, Hanoi Flag Tower, President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoa Lo prison, and the Vietnamese Women’s Museum.

The vehicles are also equipped with an automatic narration system in 10 languages and have a frequency of 60 minutes.

Vietnam looks for cooperation opportunities in Africa

Vietnam’s achievements and potential for cooperation with African nations have been popularised at the 8th Edition of the Africa Forum of Investment and Commerce, which takes place in Algeria on May 11 and 12, reported Vietnam News Agency.

Organised by the Arab-African Center for Investment and Development (CAAID), the event connects 650 investors, leaders of regional and international organisations, experts, and representatives of commerce chambers from 35 countries. The Vietnamese delegation to the forum is led by Ambassador to Algeria Nguyen Thanh Vinh.

According to Vinh, the embassy’s presence in the event is to meet and discuss with participating businesses and ambassadors about the potential for cooperation and investment in African countries as well as to introduce Vietnamese products.

Trade Counselor in Algeria Hoang Duc Nhuan, meanwhile, said that Vietnam and African countries have a lot of potential for collaboration in trade and investment, in the context of the latter implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Trade between Vietnam and 55 African countries exceeded 7 billion USD in 2021, with key Vietnamese exports to the region including industrial products, farm produce, and processed goods. Vietnam imported mainly production materials, liquefied petroleum gas, and copper from Africa.

To date, more than 20 African countries have invested about 2.3 billion USD in Vietnam, while Vietnam has poured 3.5 billion USD in Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, Tanzania, and Mozambique, among others.

In addition to attending the forum, the Vietnamese delegation also runs a stall offering Vietnamese products at a fair on the sidelines.

Vietnam Airlines resumes numerous routes to Japan, RoK

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will increase its frequency on 8 routes to Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK) from May 15 and resume 3 routes to the RoK from June 1.

In order to meet the increasing travel demand to Japan and the RoK after the pandemic, the airline will promote the exploitation of modern wide-body aircraft Boeing 787 on these routes.

Specifically, from May 15, Vietnam Airlines will add 1- 2 flights per week on routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. From July 1, the carrier will resume flights between Da Nang and Tokyo.

Thus, Vietnam Airlines will have from 25 to 30 flights per week from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to major cities in Japan, mostly using modern and comfortable Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft.

Also from May 15, the airline will add 3-4 flights per week on routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Seoul, ensuring its daily flights on these routes.

From June 1, Vietnam Airlines will resume flights between Hanoi and Busan, between Da Nang and Seoul. From July 1, the airline will resume flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan. These routes will have 3-4 flights per week. Notably, the routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Busan will be operated by Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft from July 2022.

Quang Ngai organizes national paragliding tournament on Ly Son Island

The Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized a press conference announcing the 2nd National Paragliding Club Championship in Ly Son Island district.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that this year’s event will take place at the top of Thoi Loi Mountain with the expected landing area is about 500m.

Thoi Loi Mountain was surveyed and evaluated as an ideal and safe flying spot to organize paragliding tournaments. In 2019, the mountain was chosen for an international paragliding tournament with the participation of many pilots from around the world.

“The event aims to improve the movement of physical training and sports, contributing to promoting the image and tourism in Ly Son Island,” Mr. Dung said.

It offered an opportunity for Vietnamese paragliders to practice and evaluate their qualifications and skills to prepare for regional and international paragliding tournaments.

Mr. Dung said that the organizers have received registrations from 5 paragliding clubs with 50 athletes. Each team will consist of 7 members, who are fully equipped with insurance and life jackets before participating and taking off.

Ly Son Island has an area of over 10.3km2. It is located 15 nautical miles from the mainland of Quang Ngai. The island includes the Big Island and Small Island, with a population of about 22,000 people.

First Border Sim Flower Festival to be held in Mong Cai city

Mong Cai City in the northern province of Quang Ninh will organize the first Border Sim Flower Festival, themed “Border Colors”, in Hai Son commune, on May 14 and 15. 

The festival is part of activities to respond to the 2022 National Tourism Year, stimulate tourism in Mong Cai, and celebrate the 132th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

The festival aims to create new tourism products associated with the development of community tourism in Hai Son commune; and contribute to preserving and promoting the unique cultural values of the ethnic groups in Mong Cai in general and Dao Thanh Y, San Chi and Hai Son ethnic people in particular.

Accordingly, the festival will be held at a number of tourist attractions in Hai Son commune such as: Hai Son Commune Sports and Culture Center; Po Hen Revolutionary Martyr Monument; Milestone 1347; Ho Dang hamlet in Po Hen village; Sim Hill; and Panai Mountain Top.

In the framework of the festival, many interesting activities will be held, such as "Po Hen market" at the stadium of the Hai Son Commune Sports and Culture Center with 20 stalls introducing products and special cuisines of local brands in Mong Cai city.

There will also be sports exchanges and folk games such as men’s and women’s football exchanges in Po Hen; folk games like tug of war, stick push, crossbow shooting, spinning, throwing, monkey bridge, and blindfolded catching ducks.

The festival’s opening ceremony will be held on the evening of May 14 at the stadium of Hai Son Commune Sports and Culture Center./.
