Country has 3,200 OCOP products

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to realize the “One Commune, One Product (OCOP)” program, localities have verified, rated, and recognized a total of 3,200 products this year, 800 more than planned.
The national OCOP council is reviewing 43 products for five-star ratings, the ministry said.
The OCOP program has created strong diffuse responses in all provinces and cities, especially among producers. By the end of 2020, Vietnam has all 63 provinces and cities approving provincial OCOP schemes and plans.
The program has provided farmers with the chance to come together to form cooperatives, which now account for 38 percent of 1,400 OCOP producers nationwide. The establishment of these cooperatives has allowed farmers to create products with better quality, design, and packaging, as well as higher standards, and made products more relevant to market demand, he said.
In 2021, the program strives to have about 4,000 products standardized according to the OCOP product criteria set, an increase of 800 products compared to 2020./.
