Oman grants USD300,000 to support Vietnamese central provinces’ prevention and mitigation of natural disasters

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) on September 23 held a ceremony recognizing an aid shipment worth USD300,000 from the Kingdom of Oman to support the prevention and mitigation of the consequences of storms and floods in the central provinces of Vietnam.

Addressing a ceremony on the aid shipment, Omani Ambassador to Vietnam Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Saqri expressed his sympathy over human and asset losses caused by flooding in recent years in Vietnam’s central provinces, and said he hopes that the assistance will help them overcome difficulties and quickly stabilise their lives, thus contributing to reinforcing the Oman-Vietnam friendship and cooperation.

Expressing his thanks for the practical support of the Government of the Kingdom of Oman, the VFF representative pledged to promptly transfer the aid to central localities, contributing to soon stabilizing people's lives.

After the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Hieu hosted a reception for the Omani Ambassador, during which they discussed measures to bolster the bilateral relations in the coming time.

He suggested that the Oman side continue to support and cooperate with Vietnam in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, and access to vaccine sources and medical equipment to soon overcome the pandemic.

He highly appreciated the personal efforts of Ambassador Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Saqri and the Oman Embassy in Vietnam in promoting cooperation between the two countries in general and between the two Foreign Ministries in particular. The two sides also exchanged and agreed on a number of measures to further improve the efficiency of cooperation in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economy, trade and investment.

Appreciating the efforts of the Government and people of Vietnam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as facing challenges, especially during natural disasters, the Omani Ambassador expressed his trust in the Government and people in soon controlling the COVID-19 pandemic for economic recovery and development in the near future./.
