RoK runs over 1,600 projects in Ho Chi Minh city

During his meeting with Ho Chi Minh city’s leader on June 12th, Chief of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Budget Office Lee Jong-hoo expressed his confidence that Ho Chi Minh city would attract more Korean businesses to invest in the areas in need.

He said that Korean businesses cared much about the investment environment in the Vietnamese city. At present, the RoK is the 3rd largest investment partner of Ho Chi Minh city with over 1,600 projects worth over USD5 billion. Meanwhile, the city is also accommodating over 80,000 Korean citizens and 2,000 Korean businesses.

During his reception for the Chief of the RoK’s National Assembly Budget Office, Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, said that Ho Chi Minh city and Korean localities regularly exchanged delegations and carried out cooperative activities in diverse activities.

“In the future, Ho Chi Minh city will increase cooperation with Korean localities in traffic, education and training, and smart healthcare,” he added.

According to Tuyen, trade between the two countries has surged 90-fold since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties 27 years ago. The RoK is now the largest investor and trade partner, and the second largest supplier of official development assistance, to Vietnam./.
