British rapper about life and love for Hanoi (Photo from the video)
British rapper Ian Paynton, author of two popular raps "Oh My God" and "Find Me In The Mountains", has just released a new music video titled "The Charming Beast."
Through the frames of two French directors Vincent Baumont and Charly Zach, Hanoi appears beautiful, seductive, but also a bit chaotic.
According to the rapper, the rap describes his "relationship" with Hanoi since his first traveling days in 2005.
For Ian, the love of Hanoi is pure love, full of excitement, but also a lot of confusion.
“I love Hanoi and feel welcomed in Hanoi too. Sometimes I think I belong to this place, but in reality I do not. I'm still an outsider, no matter how long I stay in this city,” said Ian.
He said he was inspired by portraits of residents and artists he knew and his life in Hanoi.
“Hanoi is an unpredictable city, full of charm, romance but chaos, quirky, and no shortage of contradictions. It can be said that this city is a 'charming beast' that I can not help but be immersed in, even though sometimes it can be difficult,” he shares on the title of the rap.
With realistic scenes of a familiar old town corner, on a boat floating in the middle of the Red River, perspectives from high buildings, Ian and the production team wanted to show other aspects of Hanoi such as space and strong vibe for the city, not only familiar images such as autumn foliage, cyclo or Ao dai.
Ian Paynton's first rap "Oh My God" released in 2012 became a hit with millions of views on Youtube. In 2019, Ian collaborated with Vietnam TuanSS beatboxer to release the second video "Find Me In The Mountains" shot in Ha Giang.
All three videos are broadcast on Ian's YouTube channel. The fourth rap "I Love You", scheduled to be released next year, will complete the musical product chain about Vietnam./.
