Hanoi lures 1,120 billion USD of foreign investment capital

(CPV) - Hanoi’s foreign investment capital (FDI) attraction in the first five months of the year ranks second nationwide, reaching nearly 1,120 billion USD and accounting for 10.3% of total registered investment capital, down 39% from the same period last year, according to the Foreign Investment Agency.

Hanoi ranks second in FDI attraction in May

In May 2024, Hanoi had 19 newly-licensed FDI projects with a total registered capital of 17.3 million USD; seven ongoing projects registering increased capital of 70.7 million USD; 19 foreign investors contributing capital and buying shares with 10.6 million USD.

In the first five months of the year, the capital attracted 1,120 billion USD of FDI capital, of which 92 new projects were registered with a capital of 1,025 billion USD; 64 ongoing projects increased investment capital by 36.8 million USD; and foreign investors contributed capital and purchased shares 86 times, reaching 57.9 million USD.

The city has issued certificates to 12,900 newly-established businesses with registered capital of 124.3 trillion VND, representing a 2% decrease in the number of businesses and a 3.5% decrease in registered capital compared to the same period last year.

In addition, during the period, 5,400 businesses resumed operation, an increase of 18.5%, while nearly 16,200 businesses registered to temporarily suspend operations, an increase of 29.4%. Notably, 1,700 businesses dissolved, an increase of 14.8%. The rate of online business registration documents is maintained at 100%, ensuring quality and timeliness./.
